Police: Black Bear Roaming Through Basking Ridge Neighborhoods
Bruin estimated to be more than 200 lbs.; no damage reported.
According to Bernards Twp. Police, eight Basking Ridge residents reported seeing a black bear wandering through multiple neighborhoods. Patrol units were assigned to the area. No damage has been reported, according to police, who estimate the bear is between 200-250 lbs.
The bear was last seen at the intersection of Juniper Way and Tanglewood Lane, and appeared to be avoiding people, according to police. As of 10:25 am the bear was seen entering the Great Swamp, said Captain Edward Byrnes.
