Looking Ahead to Spring/Summer Activites and More Coming Up

This week you can sign up for summer activities through the school district.

This week, Bernards Township children in kindergarten through grade 5 have a chance to sign up for some summer activities through the school district, in programs that range from Lego Land and chemistry, through "Wall Street" and edible creations.

The summer programs will run from July 8 to 18 for the first session, and from July 22 to Aug. 1 for the second session.

More information outlining the specific programs and offering information on how to sign up is on the school website.

Over at town hall, applications still are being taken for the Coakley-Russo Memorial Golf Course and the Pleasant Valley Pool, both located off Valley Road. Information is online on the Parks and Recreation Department webpage.

The recreation department will be open extra hours, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the following Monday, April 22, so members of the pool or golf course can have photos taken for their badges.

  • Meanwhile, there is another planning session this week for another warm-weather ritual — Charter Day. The Charter Day Committee meeting is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday at town hall at 1 Collyer Lane in downtown Basking Ridge.
  • Also this week, the Agricultural Advisory Meeting is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday at town hall.
  • A special Planning Board meeting scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday has been canceled. The purpose of the meeting, if it had been held, would have been to pass a resolution regarding the Planning Board's recommendation to the Township Committee on the Millington Quarry's plan for rehabilitation after final closure of the quarrying operation.
