This August, residents of Somerset County will have the opportunity to compete in an adventure-game based on a popular television show.

Fans of the TV show "The Amazing Race," will want to take note of an upcoming County Parks Commission program in Basking Ridge, a Somerset County version of the popular game show.

Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center will present the "The County Caper," a local edition of the popular TV series, "The Amazing Race," offered in two versions, both free of charge.

The second annual " County Caper" will kick off on Saturday, Aug. 21 at 8 a.m. from the team's home base and will culminate on Sunday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, with the awarding of the grand prize and participation prizes.

The "County Caper" is a two-day interactive adventure game that will take family members and friends of all ages to various destinations in Somerset County parks and facilities at which they will perform tasks, find clues and gather information. The event is rain or shine.

New for 2010 is the "County Caper Accelerated," for teens and adults age 15 years and above. The one-day event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 21.
