Bear Sightings Reported

Bear sightings were reported late last week on Lake Road, William Street and elsewhere on the outskirts of the downtown area.

The Basking Ridge Patch has received reports of sightings of a black bear in the area between Lake Road, and on William Street in the area between Beechwood Road and Courter Street.

Resident Angelo Clerici provided pictures of a bear in the William Street area, which he said were taken at about 7 p.m. on Friday night.

On Thursday, another resident emailed us that she had seen a bear crossing Lake Road at about 4:45 p.m., when students were still walking home from the High School. She said she had heard other reports that the bear also had been seen in the area of Willow Street, Spencer Road and Voorhees Drive.
