Elizabeth Man Accused of 5 Vehicle Break-Ins in Mount Airy Road Area

28-year-old allegedly broke into vehicles during the overnight hours last week.

A 28-year-old Elizabeth man is accused of five vehicle burglaries last week in the Mount Airy Road area, Bernards Township Police said Thursday.

Jason Madrey, of Inslee Place in Elizabeth, was arrested at about 5 p.m. Wednesday following an investigation by detectives Michael Sweeney and William Seiple into burglaries of vehicles reported overnight between Oct. 21 into Oct. 22, according to the police report.

Madrey has been charged with four counts of burglary, six counts of theft and three counts of credit card fraud, all third-degree offenses.

Madrey was arrested with the assistance of the Summit police department, according to Bernards Township police.

Madrey was lodged in the Union County Jail on additional warrants from Union County, Bernards Township police reported.
