One Commercial Sign Stolen, Another Vandalized, in Downtown Basking Ridge

Township police say vandalism wasn't noticed for several days.

One sign was stolen, and another vandalized at a business location at 31 S. Finley Ave. in downtown Basking Ridge, township police said on Tuesday — but the owner apparently didn't notice for a few days.

The township police report said a moveable sign about 4-feet high, capable of displaying block letters, was stolen. A permanent sign affixed to the building was vandalized, the report said, with the total loss estimated at about $400.

Police Lt. Mike Voorhees said he didn't know which business is at the location.

However, he said that the damage and theft took place sometime between Sept. 16 and 21, last Saturday. The theft and vandalism was reported to police on Saturday, Voorhees said.
