Prosecutor: Bicyclist Killed in Bridgewater Hit and Run
Crash scene clues lead police to identify what they believe is the type of vehicle allegedly involved.
Police are investigating what the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office is calling a fatal hit and run collision that occurred early Tuesday morning.
A bicyclist traveling west on East Main street in Bridgewater was struck from behind by a motor vehicle sometime between 2 and 6 a.m., according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano. The deceased, who is not being identified at this time, was discovered at 6 a.m. lying on the front lawn of a residence on East Main Street.
Although the suspected vehicle allegedly left the scene of the crash, Soriano said that a portion of the suspected vehicle was discovered at the scene. Detectives have identified the alleged vehicle as a red four-door 1991-1995 Mercedes, model 190E. The vehicle is believed to have significant front end damage and a damaged windshield.
