Dedication of Liberty Fire Company's 9/11 Memorial

The Liberty Corner Fire Company invites the public to the dedication of the fire company’s 9/11 Memorial in front of the Firehouse at noon. The memorial is intended to memorialize the sacrifice of the 343 firefighters of the Fire Department of the City of New York who lost their lives on that day.

The fire company was honored to have received a piece of steel from the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, which is being incorporated into the monument. In the center of the memorial will stand a concrete staircase representing the concrete stairs which were ascended by the firefighters before the collapse which took their lives. Plaques on the stairs have inscribed on them several of the radio communications of the firefighters during that ascent.
The keynote speaker will be Bernards Township Mayor John Malay. There have been many donations of materials and labor made by individuals and businesses in the area. If anyone is interested in purchasing a memorial brick, to be made a permanent part of the memorial, an application can be found at the fire company’s website at www.libertycornerfire.org.
