Last Chance: 'Essence of Bernards' Photo Contest

Deadline for contest for photos in all age groups extended to this Friday.

The deadline for submitting photos that capture the "Essence of Bernards" has been extended to March 30 for entries to be dropped off at the Bernards Township at 1 Collyer Lane in downtown Basking Ridge.

This is the second year that the township is hosting its "Essence of Bernards" amateur photography competition. Township adults and students in kindergarten through grade 12 are invited to submit their photos that capture what they feel represents their hometown.

All entries will be showcased atCelebration, scheduled for Saturday, May 19.

The photograph could be any scene, object, event or activity that occurs that the photographer feels captures the “essence” of Bernards, taken within the boundaries of the township, according to the recreation department. Photographs must have been taken within the last year, between March 2011 to February 2012.

Submissions can be to be dropped off any day through this Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the parks and recreation department.

The photos will be displayed on Charter Day at Westminster Hall at the , alongside the Student Art Show. Entries will be judged on photographic quality, appropriateness to theme, creativity and composition. Ribbons will be presented for first, second and third place award winning photos and honorable mentions in each category.
