Road Projects for 2013 Begin in Bernards Township

Work begins on this year's scheduled road projects.

Work has begun on this year's list of road projects in Bernards Township, starting with streets in The Hills, said Township Engineer Tom Timko.

The Township Committee earlier had appropriated $943,000 for improvements on a dozen roads in Bernards Township in 2013.

On Tuesday, Timko told township officials that the road work will begin with storm inlet and curb and sidewalk repairs. The initial work will be followed by milling and paving of streets, according to a memo from the engineering department.

The contractor, Mark Paving, will move through town approximately in a west to east direction, the memo said.

The first streets scheduled for construction, in The Hills section of the township, include Cobble Lane, Hartley Lane, Beacon Crest Drive, Doggett Court.

Next on the list is Mine Brook Road from Church to Old Coach; Dawn Drive; Tamarisk Court; Knollcroft Road; Linden Drive, the older, lower section; Homestead Road; and Peachtree Road.

Schedule and street order will be subject to change depending on how the work progresses and the start of school, the memo said.
