It may be January, but the housing market in Basking Ridge and Bernardsville is getting a little warmer.
Thanks to the fiscal cliff dispute amongs federal politicians, mortgage rates ticked up to an average of 3.33 percent this week for a fixed, 30-year mortgage. But that still isn't too much above the record low of 3.16 percent reported in December.
This year's list of open houses for Sunday include a number of interesting vintage properties — from the $2.3-million Lloyd Road farm property in Bernardsville that dates back to 1801, to the more modestly priced homes with character on Lyons Road and Washington Avenue in Basking Ridge, and Anderson Hill Road in Bernardsville that are priced in the $400,000-plus range.
