Broken Water Main at Oak Street Likely Due to Age

Main caused Oak Street Elementary school to be closed on Wednesday.

As best as school officials can tell, the break in a water main on West Oak Street that was responsible for the was due to age, according to the Board of Education office.

The school district had insurance to cover the cost of the repair, School Business Administrator Rod McLaughlin said on Friday.

The school reopened on Thursday following repairs by a private contractor.

However, school children at Oak Street now have logged one emergency closing day that the rest of the school system hasn't.
