Kelly's 5 Goals Advance Ridge Beyond Bridgewater in States

Ridge takes round one game in state finals, 17-13.

The Ridge High School girls lacrosse team defeated Bridgewater-Raritan High School in the opening round of the North Group 4 State Tournament, taking the game 17-13. Ridge captain Kelly Scott led all scorers with five goals and three assists. However, the team logged a number of key performances.

The Ridge team took the field aggressively and played strong during their opening round North Group 4 tournament game from the start to finish. Although the Panthers drew first blood on a goal from Stephanie Umbach just a minute into the game, Katie Solon of Ridge answered with a goal of her own just 30 seconds later. Over the next few minutes, the two teams traded goals until the Devils took the advantage and wrapped up the first half with an 11-7 lead.  The second half was evenly matched and both teams posted six goals to end the game 17-13.

KEY PERFORMANCES

Kelly Scott — Scott scored five goals and three assists to lead all scorers in the game; Katie Solon - Solon added fourgoals for Ridge; Kat Tanenbaum —Tanenbaum socred two goals in the first half and had four assists; Meagan Quigley — Quigley scored three goals in the game; Stephanie Umbach (Bridgewater) — Umbach had five goals for the Panthers.
