Senior Night Always a Special Occasion For Ridge Athletes

Each sport has its own traditions but all honor student and athlete, along with parents.

Senior night, a time-honored tradition at Ridge High School, rolled around last week for the boys basketball and wrestling teams prior. Team members who are graduating seniors, and their parents, were singled out for honor.

Senior night is a tradition in many high schools and colleges around the country.  The purpose of the event is to recognize the commitments of the student and their parents involved in athletic programs.

Some of the sports have unique ceremonies. Last October, the girls on the field hockey team produced an archway of hockey sticks for the seniors to pass under as they enter the field,

But senior night has some constant traditions as well. The student and a parent or parents are introduced to those in attendance. Moms are presented with flowers, and some attendees are presented with plaques.

All these events are then followed up by a home game. Senior night is a big win for all participants no matter what the score.
