Milestone Fundraising Goal Reached through the Somerset Hills YMCA

The Somerset Hills YMCA recently held a Golf Outing for its Strong Kids Annual Campaign, generating many donations to give back to the community and those families in need of financial assistance.

On June 25th, the Somerset Hills YMCA hosted its 22nd Annual Golf  Classic at Roxiticus Golf Club in Mendham, NJ. This year's event was  particularly exciting as the Y reached a milestone fundraising goal of  $100,000 for the Strong Kids Annual Campaign - the greatest amount ever raised at this event.

The Strong Kids Annual Campaign allows the Y to help those in the community who are most in need including, but not limited to, families facing financial hardship, children at risk, people with special needs and support for cancer patients. Every dollar raised for the Strong Kids Campaign supports programs and services that benefit those in need.

In 2011, the Somerset Hills YMCA provided over $950,000 in financial assistance and program subsidies through the Strong Kids Annual Campaign. Of those funds, nearly $540,000 was used to provide direct financial assistance to 407 individuals to ensure participation in all YMCA programs. The rest of the funds were used to provide free community outreach programs like Special Olympics, Saturdays in Motion, Career Forum, and a wide array of teen and senior citizen programs and services.

Much of the event success was due in large part to the significant contributions of 23 sponsors, as well as community members and volunteers. The Y is especially grateful to the major event sponsors including Couch Braunsdorf Insurance as Presenting Sponsor; Open Road Auto Group as Platinum and Hole-in-One Sponsor; as well as the Amato-Waldbauer Group, UBS and Peapack-Gladstone Bank as Gold Sponsors

Nearly 100 golfers participated in this year's Annual Golf Classic which honored Bob Lomauro, President and CEO, who will be retiring at the end of August after 18 years of service to the Somerset Hills YMCA.

"We are thrilled with the success of the golf event. It is through the collective support of our sponsors and the community that we have been able to accomplish the monumental task of meeting our fundraising goal," explains Tad Waldbauer, Chair of the Somerset Hills YMCA Board of Directors. "Their continued support allows the Y to give back to the community by helping the people who need it most."
