Former Jets GM Tannenbaum, With New Job, Continues YMCA Involvement

Deadline extended for second annual Tannenbaum family scholarship at Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge.

The Somerset Hills YMCA in Basking Ridge, where former N.Y. Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum remains on the Board of Directors, announced on Wednesday that the deadline has been extended for YMCA members who wish to apply for this year's Tannenbaum family scholarship.

Also on Wednesday, it was reported that  has been named to a new position that he will manage from New York.

According to a Wednesday report on Forbes.com, Tannenbaum will represent and oversee contract negotiations for basketball and football coaches for both professional and college sports. The report said that Tannenbaum has been named as a member of the full-service agency Priority Sports & Entertainment.

Tannenbaum and his family have been residents of Basking Ridge for the past few years, and have become part of the fabric of the community.

The had been offered again this year with an original deadline date of April 2.

The new deadline is April 30, and is open to any area high school senior or matriculating college student who is a member of the Somerset Hills YMCA, and wishes to pursue a sports-related degree at an accredited college, said Megeen Laska, director of public relations and marketing at the YMCA.

Information on the scholarship, a one-year award of between $1,000 to $2,500, is available on the Somerset Hills YMCA website.

A scholarship application form also is available online.
