Some Scenes From the Far Hills Races

For many people, the party is as much a part of the Far Hills races as the horses. Or maybe more.

Tens of thousands again attended the races, which are a fundraiser for Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. The Far Hills Race Meeting, held each October at Moorland Farm in Far Hills, has been a significant source of donations for the Steeplechase Cancer Center that is affiliated with Somerset Medical.

Some race-goers return year after year. Take Alan Robbins of Basking Ridge, a former Bernardsville resident, who has his own Far Hills race outfit.

Each year, Maureen Brennan of Basking Ridge brings her stuffed "Foxy" to the races. The fox is pictured at the far left of the photo included in this story.

Many bring their own decorations and plan major parties around the event that can spill over into the rest of the evening (or the weekend.)
