Millington Bank Fundraising Teams Raise Close to $7K

Millington Bank teams at multiple locations raise money for American Cancer Society.

Millington Savings Bank once again successfully brought together a team of enthusiastic volunteers to participate in the  held on June 15-16 at . This marks the 12th year that the bank has participated in the event.

In addition, donations collected during the bank’s recent “Shred Day” event at the Bernardsville branch on June 23rd raised an additional $282 for the cause.

The Millington Savings Bank team, Banking on a Cure, secured the honor of top fundraising team in Warren with a total of over $6,600 raised so far for the American Cancer Society. This was the 11th consecutive year the group of volunteers exceeded their fundraising goal. The Relay for Life raises money to support the American Cancer Society’s efforts in research, education and advocacy.

The eight member team, which was comprised of Millington Bank employees, family members and friends, included two cancer survivors. Susan Schumann, Millington Savings Bank VP Marketing/Business Development, was the top individual fundraiser among all the teams involved in the Warren event, raising over $5,300 through her own efforts.

This year, Millington Savings Bank held bake sales at the headquarters location every Friday in June prior to the Relay for Life.  On the night of the event, in addition to walking around the track, the Banking on a Cure team sold hot dogs, soda and home-made baked goods. As a result of these activities, they raised over $900 additional dollars which was donated to the American Cancer Society-Relay for Life in Warren. “Our team is dedicated to the Relay for Life and to continuing the fight against this devastating disease.  Our hope is to someday find a cure for cancer,” stated Susan Schumann.  “The bank’s effort is a tribute to those whose lives have been affected in so many ways by this disease.”
