Bernards Court and Meeting Room Prepares to Close for Overhaul

Not only will the renovated main meeting room and courtroom at Bernards town hall have more everyday uses and conveniences and technical upgrades when a planned project is completed, but it also will be able to serve as a command center, charging station and temporary warming center in case of another prolonged power outage.

Ridge Baseball Waits For Turf Field Approval As Parking Dispute Continues

The Bernards Township Committee is surveying neighbors before they establish parking restrictions along streets near the Ridge Baseball Complex off Valley Road, which neighbors say produces overflow traffic. That's before they even consider the Ridge Baseball organization's request for permission to install synthetic turf on the infields at the township owned-complex, at the club's own expense.

King Lear Takes Center Stage Outdoors in Bernards Township

Following lots of practice, this year's Plays in the Park series continues with the Friday night debut (after Thursday's production was rained out) of 'King Lear.' The Shakespeare classic continues through a performance at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, although there will be additional performances in Westfield before Labor Day weekend, since Westfield's Troupe of Friends teamed up with Basking Ridge-based Trilogy Repertory Co. to stage the play.

Retiring Police Sgt. Leaves Bernards Force This Week

After 25 years in the Bernards Township police department, Bernards Police Sgt. Joshua Fowler's last day at police headquarters was Wednesday. Fowler had long worked in the traffic division as a officer and also became one of the township's motorcycle officers, according to the police department.
