Tickets now are on sale for the sixth annual Chili & Chowder Cookoff being organized as a fundraiser by St. James Men of Charity in Basking Ridge.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the St. James School gymnasium, 200 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge. Tickets are $40 apiece, and babysitting is available.
Proceeds from the annual event, which each year offers samples of different types of chilis and chowders, go to benefit acts of kindness and service inside and outside of the parish community, according to the church-based organization.
Dozens of local cooks and restaurants expected to offer their chilis and chowders
About 24 to 30 local cooks and restaraunts are expected to participate this year, said organizer Paul Mattiola.
Attendees, adults only, will have a chance to taste many varieties of chili and chowder, and to vote on their favorites.
Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available. A tricky tray is also planned. The admission price includes all food and drink.
