Jewelry, Cash Stolen in Basking Ridge Burglary

Hamilton Road home in The Hills burglarized Sunday.

A home on Hamilton Road in The Hills section of Bernards Township was burglarized with jewelry and cash stolen sometime Sunday during the day, Bernards Township police said on Tuesday.

Police Lt. Mike Voorhees said the single-family home was entered by force between about 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. that day, according to the police report. The resident notified police at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday, the police report said.

According to Voorhees, the home's bedroom had been ransacked. He said jewelry and cash, including Chinese currency, were reported missing.

Voorhees said the property report with a value on the items had not yet been filed with township police.

There are no suspects, Voorhees said on Tuesday afternoon.

Last week, a home on South Alward Avenue and a car parked on Penns Way in Society Hill were broken into and items stolen, township police reported last Thursday. Several other thefts and break-ins at local homes and in parked vehicles also have been reported around the township in the past several months.
